Day 74: protesters target telecom minister, PM—designate
- Protesters staged a sit-in outside Caretaker Telecom Minister Mohammad Choucair’s house in Hamra Sunday morning to protest the renewal of contracts for telecommunication companies Alfa and Touch. The minister’s guards, stationed at the building, attacked and hurled insults at protesters. Choucair’s press office released a statement denouncing the protest as baseless and an infringement on his and other tenants’ privacy.
- Later that day, a march was held from Martyrs’ Square to Prime Minister-designate Hassan Diab’s house. Protesters asserted their rejection of Diab’s designation.
