General mobilization extended until April 26
- The Higher Defense Council has extended the period of general mobilization for another two weeks, with an expected expiration date of April 26, 2020. The decision retains previous mobilization measures of upholding curfew and halting work after 7PM, as well as restricting the movement of cars and trucks by plate number. The decision did not, however, address any additional relief measures or compensations to citizens. Yet, the Higher Defense Council did take the time to remind all security forces of the importance of "oppressing" violators.
COVID-19 Update
- 7 new cases, 582 total cases, 67 recoveries, 19 deaths
- THE GOVERNMENT GIVES UP: WE CANNOT REPATRIATE ALL LEBANESE ABROAD. Public Works and Transportation Minister Michel Najjar announced that the government will evaluate the first phase of repatriation, which ends this Monday, to decide on how best to proceed with the second phase. He added that "we cannot bring back all Lebanese from abroad". The minister, however, offered compensation for those abandoned by the government: a new measure that "permits" families to transfer money to their children abroad, in a bid to provide them with better living conditions.
- Since the technocratic government is unable to repatriate the Lebanese, it considers it enough to allow them to use their own money.
