Covid-19 Update
  • 8 new cases, 886 cases, 236 recoveries, 26 deaths
  • PRIME MINISTER DISTRESSED ABOUT HIS "ACHIEVEMENTS". Following the cabinet's meeting on Thursday, Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad announced that lockdown might be extended if COVID-19 infections continue to rise. Abdel Samad, speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Hassan Diab, blamed the renewed spread of the virus on "the neglect of some people and their lack of commitment to the government's measures. She stressed that the government's achievements in controlling the outbreak should not go astray.

How the government responded to Ramco's Wrongdoing
  • @GhaziWazni: The Minister of Finance signed all decrees received by his office related to companies that collect, sweep, and transport waste across Lebanon, with a value of 35 billion and 496 million Lebanese pounds.
  • THE GOVERNMENT REWARDS RAMCO INSTEAD OF INVESTIGATING ITS ACTIONS. This move by the Ministry of Finance comes after workers in RAMCO, the company responsible for waste management in Beirut, protested against the company's unfair payment of their wages and demanded a correction. Workers also accused the company of torturing and intimidating them. Instead of opening an investigation, the "technocratic" government is reacting in two ways: dispatching the riot police to quell protests and paying the company's dues.
