Protestors in Beirut were gathered outside the central bank while a press conference was being held by governor Riad Salameh. Salameh stated that the central bank is committed to maintaining the currency peg and protecting depositors and their deposits. He also requested the banks to be more flexible towards their customers. Meanwhile, the Union of Bank Employees announced they would begin an open strike protesting working conditions and growing fears among employees that they demand be addressed before they resume their work.
The 24-hour sit-in in front of Electricite du Liban, which began a day before, continued as protestors set up tents outside the building while covering the building’s fence with black sheets to represent the electrical blackout that takes place daily across the country.
In response to calls for nationwide student strikes on November 12, Caretaker Minister of Education Akram Chehayeb announced that there will be no classes.
In a televised speech, Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah stated that the United States played a significant role in amplifying the economic crisis. He claimed that this was done through pressure from sanctions imposed against Chinese and Iranian investments in the country.
Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri postponed the legislative session to November 19 citing security concerns as protesters had planned to block roads to prevent MPs from attending parliament. Protesters had planned such actions because they deemed the session unconstitutional.
Protesters and experts in the country and around the world denounced the controversial draft amnesty law.
