Protesters block roads, demonstrate against unpaid wages

  • Protesters in Beirut and Sidon organized marches to protest against the government and price hikes. In Minyeh, protesters blocked the road outside the municipality to denounce the area’s mounting dumpsites. In Bekaa’ s village of Nabi Chit, municipality employees demonstrated against the non—payment of their wages.

Coronavirus patient recovers, court sessions suspended to contain virus

  • According to the Health Ministry, Lebanon’s first COVID—19 patient, who arrived from Iran on February 20, tested negative. Meanwhile,all court sessions and judicial departments will be suspended for the next three days as temporary precautions to counter coronavirus.

Protest outside Swiss embassy to restore funds transferred abroad

  • Protesters and a number of MPs organized a sit—in outside the Swiss embassy to demand the return of funds transferred abroad. Protesters called on the Supreme Judicial Council to play its role in recovering these funds, adding that the names of individuals who transferred funds abroad should also be revealed.
