COVID-19 update: 67 new cases

  • In a televised statement, Prime Minister Hassan Diab announced 67 new cases that have tested positive to the novel coronavirus COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections to 230. Four patients are currently in critical condition. Earlier today, Minister of Public Health Hamed Hassan tweeted that Lebanon has ""slid into a stage of spread"" in the last 48 hours.

Diab calls for "self-imposed curfews"

  • Prime Minister Hassan Diab called on all Lebanese to practice "self-imposed curfews" to aid the state in mitigating the outbreak. Diab said that the Ministry of Interior and all other security apparatuses, including the army, will be collaborating on new stringent measures that would see checkpoints and security patrols on peripheral, main, and international roads to enforce compliance with current procedures.
