13 coronavirus cases in Lebanon
- The Public Health Ministry announced 3 new Coronavirus cases, raising the total number of, patients in Lebanon to 13, currently at Rafic Hariri Hospital. Al l3 have had contact with the initial patients. The ministry threatened to take legal measures against those who “spread or publish fake news” regarding the virus.
Lebanese banks taken to court
- The financial general prosecutor and 7 other judges listened to the testimonies of 15 bank CEOS, including Salim Sfeir, Head of the Association of Banks in Lebanon. The bank representatives answered questions about selling Eurobond bank shares, withholding depositors’ money, and transferring money abroad since October 17.
Final Eurobond decision due on Friday or Saturday
- Head of the National Council for Audiovisual Media Abdel Hadi Mahfouz quoted Prime Minister Hassan Diab saying that the latter will announce the government’s decision regarding the settlement of the Eurobond debts, on Friday or Saturday. According to Mahfouz, Diab said measures will safeguard the rights of small to medium—sized depositors.
Activist Khaldoun Jaber interrogated
- The Anti—Cybercrime Bureau has called in activist Khaldoun Jaber to interrogate him, following a complaint filed against him by the mayor of Aytanit, because of an article in which Khaldoun criticized violations on public properties. Khaldoun is also called in for interrogation on Tuesday for alleged charges of insulting the residency and inciting to protest.
Lebanon set on normalizing with Assad’s Syria
- Tourism and Social Affairs Minister Ramzi Mcharafiye met with a number of Syrian ministers concerned with refugee affairs, while on a visit to Syria. Mcharafiye insisted upon the need for coordination between Lebanon and Syria on the return of Syrian refugees. It is worth noting that Mcharafiye is affiliated With Talal Arslan.
